Kullu, March 4 -- The Ombudsman under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) has ordered recovery of about Rs 5.52 lakh from five officials and functionaries of Gram Panchayat Behna in Anni block of Kullu district after finding them responsible for procedural violations and financial irregularities in the execution of a rural road project.

The action follows a complaint filed by Ramkrishan Thakur, a resident of village Ropri, along with 11 other villagers, alleging misappropriation of funds and irregularities in the construction of a cement concrete tractor road from Kotnala to Ropri under MNREGA during 2021-22.
