Nagpur, Feb. 14 -- In a pre-Valentine's Day crackdown on narcotics, the Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell in Nagpur seized MD powder (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) valued at over Rs 1 crore and arrested one suspect within the jurisdiction of Ganeshpeth police station, officials said on Saturday.

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine is commonly known as 'ecstasy' or 'molly' and is a synthetic drug with stimulant and psychedelic properties.

According to police, the operation was launched late Friday night following specific intelligence inputs about MD being sold near Rajaram Devi Chowk in the Ganeshpeth area.

Acting swiftly, the anti-narcotics team laid a trap around 11.10 pm and intercepted a suspect who arrived at the spot on a moped.
