Nagpur, Aug. 17 -- : union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Monday extended support to the youth associated with the agitation led by Abhijit Dipke over paper leaks and invited Dipke to join his party RPI, saying his demands were legitimate.

Athawale said the agitation had been peaceful and the government had accepted the protesters' demands.

He said paper leaks were a serious issue as several students had allegedly died by suicide after such incidents.

"There is no question of the government supporting paper leaks. Those whose names have surfaced in such cases have been arrested.

Our government has also enacted a law providing for up to 10 years' imprisonment," he said.
