Chennai, June 5 -- Demonstrating the power of collective action for environmental sustainability, the Rotary International District 3234 on Friday launched its flagship environmental initiative, "Amrit Vanam - Lungs of the City," on World Environment Day, by organising a tree plantation drive at the University of Madras, Taramani campus, in the city.
The drive witnessed the plantation of 15,000 trees on a single day, creating one of the largest coordinated urban afforestation efforts undertaken by Rotary in the region.
