Chandigarh, June 5 -- : A minor dispute over giving way to a vehicle allegedly escalated into a deadly exchange of gunfire in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, leaving a Nihang Sikh dead and three others injured near Batala's Simbal Chowk, police said.

According to preliminary findings, the confrontation began on the Batala-Gurdaspur road when occupants of two vehicles became involved in a heated argument over vehicle passage. What initially appeared to be a routine roadside altercation soon spiralled into violence, with members of both groups allegedly opening fire using licensed weapons.
