Samastipur, June 1 -- Former Bihar Minister and senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Alok Kumar Mehta today strongly criticised the Education Department's directive requiring teachers to remain at their district headquarters during the summer vacation, terming it a "Tughlaqi diktat".
Mehta told news persons here that summer vacation is a legally sanctioned leave period for teachers and issuing an order directing them to stay at their headquarters during this period was unjustified.
He said teachers generally utilise the vacation to spend time with their families, look after their children's education and attend to personal responsibilities. The RJD MLA alleged that the government's directive amounted to mental harassment of teachers....
