Patna, Oct. 28 -- In a major disciplinary action ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today expelled 27 rebel leaders, including sitting MLAs, former legislators and senior party functionaries, for contesting against official party candidates or engaging in activities detrimental to the party's interests.

RJD spokesperson Chittranjan Gagan said that the party state president Mangni Lal Mandal expelled 27 leaders and removed then from their respective posts and stripped of primary membership for six years with immediate effect.

Those expelled include sitting MLAs Chhotelal Yadav and Mohammad Kamran, former MLAs Ram Prakash Mahato, Anil Sahni, Saroj Yadav, Anil Yadav, and former MLC Ganesh Bharti.
