Patna, Sept. 12 -- The Water Resources Department on Saturday directed officials to maintain round-the-clock vigil and conduct regular patrolling along vulnerable riverbanks and embankments amid the increased risk of erosion following the sudden fall in water levels.
According to data issued at 0600 hours on Saturday by the Flood Management Improvement Support Centre of the Water Resources Department, water levels of the Ganga and other major rivers in Bihar showed a declining trend at several locations. The Ganga at Buxar was flowing at 59.81 metres, 0.49 metres above the warning level of 59.32 metres, though it remained below the danger mark and was reported to be steady.
