Kyiv, Oct. 28 -- Rival satellite companies are stepping up efforts to challenge Elon Musk's dominance in battlefield communications after restrictions on SpaceX's Starlink service in Ukraine exposed the risks of relying on a single private provider for critical military infrastructure.

SpaceX, Starlink's parent company, leads the global satellite connectivity market with more than 11,000 satellites, according to data from the American Enterprise Institute.
