Kolkata, July 1 -- Retired Justice Ranjit Kumar Bag has resigned from the tribunal constituted to hear cases related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, citing personal reasons.
His resignation comes after former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court T.S. Sivagnanam stepped down from the tribunal in May on similar grounds.
The tribunal was constituted following a direction from the Supreme Court, which entrusted the Calcutta High Court with setting up a panel of retired judges to adjudicate cases involving names placed on the "under consideration" list during the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list.
