Chandigarh, June 17 -- Political tensions in Punjab escalated on Wednesday as activists of Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) staged coordinated protests across several districts, including Ludhiana, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann following a directive issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

In Ludhiana, a large number of supporters gathered outside the District Administrative Complex and held a demonstration against the Punjab government. Protesters raised slogans against the Chief Minister and attempted to burn his effigy. Police personnel deployed at the site tried to prevent the move, but the demonstrators eventually succeeded in setting the effigy ablaze.
