Ranchi, March 28 -- A Ranchi-based organisation has submitted a representation to the Jharkhand Governor seeking intervention in the appointment of State Information Commissioners, alleging violations of provisions of the Right to Information Act.

In a memorandum addressed to the Governor, the organisation "Jai Jharkhand Abhiyan" urged that the ongoing process of appointments be halted and reviewed.

The representation alleged that the recommended names include persons associated with political parties, which it claimed is in violation of Section 15(6) of the RTI Act mandating neutrality and independence of Information Commissioners.
