Hyderabad, Sept. 2 -- Singareni management has clarified that reports claiming privatisation of its underground coal mines are completely false and there is no proposal to privatise the mines.
In a statement on Wednesday, Singareni said it currently operates 21 underground and 17 opencast mines, supplying coal to Telangana and several other States. Though some underground mines are incurring losses, they are being continued to protect employment and job security, while efforts are being made to reduce losses, increase production and improve profitability.
The management said the Shanthikhani mine EoI was only a pilot project to assess whether losses could be reduced by operating the mine under the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) model. ...
