Lucknow, Dec. 27 -- In view of the prevailing severe cold wave and dense fog, the Uttar Pradesh government has made comprehensive arrangements to provide relief for the people, particularly vulnerable sections. Officials on Saturday said 1,247-night shelters have so far been set up across the state in which 9,949 needy people have taken shelter.
Besides, bonfires, and blanket distribution arrangements have been activated in all districts of the state. The state government has told officials to carry out relief work with sensitivity.
District administrations have been instructed to ensure proper arrangements for cleanliness, hot water, lighting, and security in the night shelters.
