Shimla, June 10 -- : The Himachal Pradesh government has approved financial assistance of Rs 16.76 crore for 113 families operating shops and other businesses on government land in the vicinity of Gaggal Airport, providing relief to those affected by the airport expansion project in Kangra district.

Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania on Wednesday said that the assistance has been sanctioned on humanitarian grounds under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who has been emphasizing balanced development while safeguarding the interests of affected families. The airport expansion project is aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure and enhancing air connectivity in the region, he said.
