Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3 -- More than 53,986 people have remained in relief camps across flood-affected Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore on Thursday, even as Odisha's flood situation showed signs of improvement with major rivers receding and rainfall activity declining.

Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore continued to bear the brunt of flooding, with relief and rescue operations underway in the affected areas.

In Jajpur, Dasrathpur remained affected, with 19 gram panchayats and 62 villages impacted. As many as 22 relief camps were operational, sheltering 7,745 people.

In Mayurbhanj, 21 blocks, 53 gram panchayats and 97 villages, besides two wards of Baripada Municipality, remained affected. Twenty-nine relief camps have been accommodating 10,501 ...
