Hanumakonda, June 10 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) Telangana State Assistant Secretary Takkallapalli Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday demanded that the BJP-led Central Government reduce the rising prices of essential commodities, fuel and cooking gas, or step down from power.

Addressing a protest held as part of the CPI's statewide call to lay siege to Collectorates over price rise, Rao said the Centre had burdened the poor and middle class by sharply increasing petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices.

Organised by the CPI Hanumakonda District Committee, the protest began with a rally from the Arts College Auditorium to the Collectorate, followed by a demonstration.
