Thiruvananthapuram, July 7 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on July 7, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall that could pose a significant threat to life and property.
The IMD defines extremely heavy rainfall as precipitation exceeding 204.4 mm within a 24-hour period.
An Orange Alert has been sounded for Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, where very heavy rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is expected at isolated places on July 7.
A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts for the same day, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
