New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- Delhi came under a red alert for heavy rainfall on Friday as intense showers and thunderstorms lashed several parts of the national capital, disrupting life and affecting flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Nine flights were diverted from IGI Airport within an hour as heavy rain reduced operational efficiency, while water accumulation was also reported in parts of the airport complex.
Between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm, four flights were diverted to Jaipur, four to Lucknow and one to Ahmedabad, according to sources.
