Washington, May 1 -- The true cost of the Iran war is now estimated to be closer to $50 billion, according to US officials familiar with internal assessments, double the original $25 billion figure cited by the Pentagon this week.
In testimony on Capitol Hill, Pentagon officials put the cost of the US military operation codenamed 'Epic Fury' at around $25 billion. However, that figure did not fully account for the damages to equipment, repair, and maintenance cost of military installations struck during the war, reports CBS News.
