New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Thursday called for responsible handling of customer data by fintech companies, saying personal information should be treated as a fiduciary responsibility rather than a commercial asset.
Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest 2026, Malhotra said trust would remain critical to the growth of India's digital financial ecosystem as technology becomes increasingly integrated into financial services.
