Chennai, Feb. 25 -- Former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes India's 76-run defeat to South Africa in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight stage could prove to be the wake-up call the defending champions needed to reset their campaign.

India's loss ended a remarkable run of 12 consecutive victories across the last two editions of the tournament.

ICC quoted Shastri, "The timing of the defeat could help the team reassess its approach ahead of the crucial matches."He said an off day was inevitable after such a long winning streak and added that the setback might force the team management to rethink team composition and avoid complacency during the decisive phase of the competition.
