Mumbai, Aug. 23 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut launched a sharp counter-offensive against the ruling alliance in Maharashtra, accusing it of using "government welfare schemes and political rallies" as "paid events" thus intensifying the ongoing war of words between the Opposition and the ruling parties.
The fresh political confrontation happened when Raut strongly defended Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent youth convention in Pune, which had come under sharp criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
