Ranchi, Nov. 12 -- Ranchi Sadar Hospital has successfully performed its first-ever complex brain and spine (craniovertebral junction) surgery, marking a new milestone in the hospital's history.
The intricate procedure, known as Foramen Magnum Decompression, was carried out to relieve pressure at the junction of the brain and spinal cord. The surgery was led by Dr Vikas Kumar, Senior Neurosurgeon, who operated on a patient suffering for months from severe headaches, dizziness, neck stiffness, and limb weakness.
The patient, who had been advised costly and high-risk surgery at private hospitals, underwent the operation successfully at Sadar Hospital and has now recovered and is able to walk.
