Agartala, March 18 -- Senior BJP MLA from Tripura Rampada Jamatia was unanimously elected as Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly on the 4th day of the ongoing budget session on Wednesday.
The election was overseen by Acting Speaker Ramprasad Paul, who informed the Assembly that three separate proposals had been made nominating Jamatia for the position.
These nominations were backed by leaders from various parties, including Chief Minister Manik Saha, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, and other legislators. With no opposing nominations or objections raised, the Assembly unanimously approved the choice, officially making Rampada Jamatia the Speaker.
