New Delhi, Jan. 6 -- Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday flagged what he called "disturbing questions" surrounding the sudden halt of Operation Sindoor, pointing to the role of the United States and recent disclosures by a US lobbying firm that have raised eyebrows in diplomatic circles in New Delhi.

Ramesh said that "much obviously happened on May 10, 2025," leading up to the first public announcement of the halt of Operation Sindoor, not by the Government of India, but by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 5:37 pm IST.

"The fact that such a critical development was first communicated by the US Secretary of State itself warrants serious explanation from the Modi government," he said in a post on X.
