Hyderabad, July 12 -- BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday released an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress government of failing to rehabilitate the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project despite repeated recommendations by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA).
Ramchander Rao alleged that the state government had failed to implement the NDSA's recommendations over the past two-and-a-half years, resulting in the non-utilisation of Godavari waters for irrigation and drinking purposes.
He claimed the barrages could have been restored within the available working seasons and said the delay had adversely affected farmers and drought-hit regions.
