New Delhi, July 20 -- Urging parties not to politicise the issue, the Supreme Court today observed that the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple was a "simple case of crime" and favoured an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising senior-ranking officers.

"Don't play politics, don't politicise the issue," Chief Justice Surya Kant, heading a Bench also comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, observed while seeking the Uttar Pradesh government's response on constituting a Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged theft of donations made by devotees.
