Lucknow, May 30 -- Acting Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna is likely to be appointed as the state's permanent police chief in the coming days, ending a four-year period during which Uttar Pradesh has been led only by acting DGPs.
On May 11, 2022, the state government removed then DGP Mukul Goyal from the post. Since then, the state's police force has been headed by a succession of acting DGPs.
Sources said on Saturday that the state government is expected to issue the official appointment order by Sunday.
The present DGP is expected to serve for at least two years. Rajiv Krishna has been serving as the acting DGP since June 1, 2025.
