Jaipur, March 7 -- The Rajasthan Assembly on Friday passed the Rajasthan Disturbed Areas Bill, 2026 by a voice vote.

The contentious legislation, namely, the Rajasthan Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Eviction from Premises in Disturbed Areas Bill - 2026, was passed after an elaborate debate in the House that turned acrimonious at times amid barbs and political potshots between the Treasury and the Opposition benches.

During the debate, the members from the treasury benches termed it a preventive safeguard against tendencies of disruptive elements and protection of interests of the property owners as well as their tenants, while the opposition Congress viewed the legislation as an ...
