Jaipur, Sept. 21 -- The ruling BJP has succeeded in getting its nominees elected mayors in the newly-constituted municipal corporations of Alwar, Ajmer, Udaipur and Pali. In the Bharatpur and Bhilwara Municipal Corporations the BJP candidates have already been elected unopposed mayors.
The opposition Congress, however, has won the mayoral polls convincingly in the Bikaner Municipal Corporation, with its nominee Anil Kalla declared elected, defeating his BJP rival Surendra Singh by 20 votes.
Winner Kalla polled 50 votes -- eight votes more than the party's own strength of 42 members in the 80-member house. The Congress nominee bagged additional seven votes of Independents and that of lone Rashtriya Loktantric Party (RLP), while the BJP can...
