New Delhi, March 18 -- A spell of light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong surface winds, is expected to affect the national Capital over the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department has forecast drizzle in parts of Delhi beginning Wednesday night, along with lightning and gusty winds. Wind speeds are expected to pick up from 20-30 kmph and may reach up to 40 kmph overnight.

Experts said the conditions, driven by an approaching western disturbance, are likely to persist through Thursday and Friday. Rainfall is expected to intensify and become more widespread on March 20.
