Panchkula, Aug. 2 -- Bringing welcome relief to railway employees, the Ministry of Railways has introduced a streamlined process that lets staff with initials in their service books or service records officially record their full names just once, without it being considered a name change.

This move promises to resolve name-related issues that frequently delay Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) and retirement benefits.

The Railway Board, in its circular, said several instances had come to its notice in which employees whose service books contained initials-based names faced difficulties at the time of retirement because the names appearing in their service books did not match those recorded in PAN, Aadhaar, bank records, and other government do...
