Mumbai, Sept. 24 -- The State Excise Department has arrested a railway attendant for allegedly transporting Goa-manufactured liquor illegally into Maharashtra and seized 61 bottles of foreign liquor worth around Rs 71,560 from him at Thane Railway Station, officials said on Thursday.
Acting upon a tip-off regarding illegal transportation of liquor from Goa, a team kept watch at Platform No. 8 of Thane station and intercepted a man who got down from the Mangaluru Express carrying two bags.
The man was identified as Shivam Chanbas Mathpati, who told the officials that he worked as a railway attendant.
