Shimla/ New Delhi, April 2 -- The union Government on Wednesday informed Parliament that train services on the Kangra Valley Railway line have resumed following the reconstruction of the damaged Chakki bridge, even as long-term strengthening works continue on the route.

Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the disruption was caused by unprecedented rains in August 2022, which washed away piers of Bridge No. 32 over Chakki Khad between Dalhousie Road and Nurpur Road stations. The damage had led to suspension of train services between Pathankot and Nurpur Road, affecting local residents and pilgrims travelling to religious destinations in Himachal Pradesh.
