Thiruvananthapuram, May 14 -- As suspense continued over the selection of Kerala's next Chief Minister following the Congress-led UDF's emphatic Assembly election victory, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi personally reached out to several Kerala Congress leaders through a series of unexpected phone calls on Wednesday, signalling the high command's deepening involvement in resolving the leadership deadlock.

The calls, which reportedly took place between 3 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday, came shortly before Rahul Gandhi left for a crucial meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence in New Delhi to discuss the Kerala leadership issue.
