Ravi SarafNew Delhi, Aug. 20 -- Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit the state in the first week of September as the Congress steps up preparations for its electoral campaign, party sources said.
Although the dates have not yet been finalised, sources said the proposed tour could begin in Amritsar, where Gandhi is likely to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple (Sri Darbar Sahib) before embarking on a bus yatra with senior Punjab Congress leaders.
The proposed yatra is expected to cover around 135 kilometres from Amritsar to the Hussainiwala border, passing through nearly 25 to 30 Assembly constituencies.
