New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Allahabad High Court to defer proceedings on a petition filed by a BJP worker alleging that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and any other concerned authority not to submit any report to the High Court in the matter until further orders.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court questioned why the Allahabad High Court had passed directions in the case without giving Gandhi an opportunity to be heard.
