Varanasi, Aug. 1 -- An FIR has been registered on Saturday at the Kotwali police station in Varanasi against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, MPs Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad following a complaint by seers and saints from Kashi alleging that an Opposition protest inside the Parliament complex hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
The written complaint was submitted by a group of seers led by Jagadguru Balak Devacharya, head of Patalpuri Math, who visited the Kotwali police station seeking legal action. Upon receiving the complaint, the police registered a case. Lawyers also staged a protest within the court complex over the issue.
