Ranchi, Sept. 10 -- Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren government, alleging that it has deliberately withheld constitutional rights of tribals and backward classes.

Addressing a press conference at the party's state office, Das said the government has failed to implement the PESA Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 rules and is avoiding urban local body elections, depriving Jharkhand of Central grants worth several thousand crores.

Das accused the state government of working under the influence of middlemen, mafias, and vested interests, while neglecting the constitutional safeguards meant for Dalits, tribals, and marginalized sections.
