Doha, Aug. 2 -- Qatar on Sunday reaffirmed its support for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Gulf, with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urging the implementation of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, including provisions to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Qatar's Foreign Ministry, Al Thani held separate telephone conversations with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
