Singapore, May 28 -- Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won their respective round of 16 matches at the Singapore Badminton Open 2026 on Thursday.
Sindhu, 11th in the women's singles badminton rankings, beat Japan's world No. 19 Riko Gunji 21-9, 21-12 in just 37 minutes to set up a clash with Olympic champion and world No. 1An Se-young of the Republic of Korea.
Sindhu, who beat world No. 6 Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia in the first round, has lookedin imperious form at the BWF Super 750 tournament so far, but has never beaten An Se-young in eight matches, according to olympics.com.
