Puri, Feb. 9 -- The Puri POCSO Court on Monday sentenced a youth to one year rigorous imprisonment in connection with a molestation incident that occurred inside the Sri Jagannath Temple.
POCSO Court Judge Ramanath Panda awarded one year of rigorous imprisonment to the convict and imposed a fine of Rs.5,000. The court also directed the State Government to pay Rs.2 lakh as compensation to the minor victim.
According to the prosecution, a family from Chhattisgarh had visited the Sri Jagannath Temple in October last year.
While the family was offering prayers near Bhitarkatha during darshan of the Trinity, the accused, identified as Bijay Surender Pandya of Kachh district in Gujarat, allegedly molested the minor girl.
