Chandigarh, Sept. 12 -- Seventeen-year-old Pawan Kumar of Patiala has been picked to represent India at the WAKO World Youth Kickboxing Championship in Italy, earning his first international call-up barely two-and-a-half years after taking up the sport.
The championship, for sub-junior and junior competitors, will be held in Venice from September 18 to 27. Pawan said he was among seven players selected from Punjab.
His place in the Indian contingent followed his performance at the National Kickboxing Championship in Khordha, Odisha, held from May 30 to June 3, where he won a medal in his event and weight category.
