Chandigarh, June 27 -- The Punjab Government on Saturday said more than 6,000 cardiac procedures have been carried out under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana in the last five months, highlighting the role of the cashless health scheme in providing timely treatment to heart patients across the state.

According to official figures, a majority of the procedures involved Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), commonly known as angioplasty, which is performed to restore blood flow in blocked arteries during heart-related emergencies. The government said the scheme has enabled eligible patients to receive immediate treatment without arranging money in advance.
