Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- Punjab is facing one of its worst flood crises, with 1,902 villages across 22 districts inundated, impacting over 3.84 lakh people, according to Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian.

The catastrophic floods have caused widespread devastation, with significant agricultural losses reported across 1.71 lakh hectares of farmland and a tragic loss of 43 lives across 14 districts.

In response, the state has intensified relief efforts, operationalising 196 relief camps, an increase of 29 camps in the past 24 hours, to provide shelter, food, and essential supplies to displaced residents.
