Chandigarh, July 8 -- Punjab Police on Wednesday said it had carried out 705 coordinated raids across the state as part of its ongoing anti-gangster campaign, arresting 423 people, taking preventive action against 374 others and apprehending nine proclaimed offenders in an intensified crackdown on organised crime.

The operation marked the 169th day of the 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign, launched on January 20 under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

According to the police, district units worked in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to conduct searches at locations identified as being linked to gangster associates.
