Chandigarh, Oct. 10 -- Under the ongoing anti-drug campaign "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs), Punjab Police carried out a statewide crackdown for the 223rd consecutive day, arresting 75 drug smugglers and recovering 2.2 kilograms of heroin. The latest operation brought the total number of arrests to over 32,500 since the campaign began.
According to police officials, 374 locations across Punjab were raided today by more than 120 police teams, involving around 1,000 personnel under the supervision of 72 gazetted officers. In addition to heroin, the raids led to the seizure of 215 intoxicant tablets or capsules and Rs 7,550 in drug money. Police also checked over 400 suspicious individuals during the operation.
