Chandigarh, Oct. 8 -- Punjab on Thursday launched a scheme allowing eligible shopkeepers occupying municipal properties on rent or lease to acquire ownership rights at concessional rates, with applications to be accepted until November 6.
Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the "Meri Dukan, Mere Naam" scheme would cover shopkeepers who could establish at least 12 years of lawful possession before April 1, 2020.
Under the scheme, economically weaker applicants earning below Rs 3 lakh annually will pay 12.5 per cent of the collector rate, while those earning between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 8 lakh will pay 25 per cent.
