Chandigarh, June 17 -- : Punjab has begun the process of seeking Geographical Indication (GI) status for the famous Amritsari Kulcha, a move aimed at preserving the originality of the centuries-old delicacy and strengthening its association with the holy city of Amritsar.
Officials said the initiative is intended to protect the traditional product from growing imitation in different parts of the country and to ensure that the reputation built by generations of local kulcha makers remains linked to its place of origin.
